The pre employment Competency Selection Report’s purpose is to guide human resource professionals and business executives through the critical elements of hiring the best manager for the position based on identified competencies for the position. It is written in plain business language and covers the 27 validated personality traits necessary to measure management behaviors and competencies. It evaluates the management candidate's work related personality and intellectual abilities in relation to Competency Models for five different management levels; Executive, Management, Sales Management, Supervisor and Individual Contributor
The pre-employment Competency Selection Report includes detailed results and observations about how a cnadidate's innate characteristics may facilitate or hinder the desired management competencies and, ultimately, management effectiveness. Also provided are competency-oriented interview questions to use to evaluate the skills, knowledge and other learned characteristics important to this job, as well as a general model for making a good hiring decision from all sources of information. The report closes with management suggestions to help hiring managers jump start the new manager toward success.

Intellectual Ability Results
- Verbal Reasoning - Measures the ability to quickly analyze verbal information and deduce logical conclusions from that information (deductive thinking, etc.). Managers often see this as Tactical Thinking. Scores are in percentiles against general population norms and Professional/Managerial norms. Higher scores are better.
- Mental Alertness - Measures intellectual quickness, ability to "switch gears" back and forth between problem types. Many managers refer to this as "Intellectual Horsepower". Scores are in percentiles against general population norms and Professional/Managerial norms. The higher the score the better.
- Abstract Reasoning Score - Is a measure of ability to reason through complex, abstract, nonverbal information and to grasp new ideas. This capacity includes the ability to solve problems in new situations where one has little experience upon which to draw. Managers often see this as the ability to think strategically. Scores are in percentiles against general population norms and Professional/Managerial norms. The higher the score the better.

- Personality Detail - Clicking on the link shows you an example of how the candidate's personality, behaviors and emotional intelligence help or hinder leadership and management competencies.
Interview Guide - provides a structured interview to help hiring managers and human resource professionals through a series of behaviorally based questions to better evaluate the candidate's ability to display each competency. It also provides additional interview suggestions based on this candidate's personality results.
Management Suggestions - While the Development Report for the competency model provides detailed suggestions for helping individual managers overcome problem areas, this section of the Selection Report recommends ways to help hiring mangers jump start candidates onto the road of leadership and management effectiveness. Each of the management suggestions identifies a potential problem area for the candidate and recommends an approach to optimizing his/her effectiveness on the job.
